  • To present practical approaches using sports activities
  • To apply and disseminate research results

Long-term objctives

Research
  • Research will be based on sport psychology, sport sociology, sport pedagogy, and exercise physiology and will examine the value and function of sports in youth development.
  • Literary research will be the main research method: investigated content will be reviewed by the organized T/F team through seminars.
Sharing ideas
  • East Asian Seminar and an International Forum will be convened to share data gained through documentary research and internal seminars.
  • The East Asian seminar will place emphasis on listening to the opinions of Japanese and Chinese experts regarding the research conducted by domestic researchers.
  • Based on such recognition of problems, an international forum for studying the success cases of youth sport activities in advanced education/sport nations will be held.
Developing programs
  • Our effort is geared toward the development of a realistic and practical sport program for youth based on the previously described internal seminars, the East Asian seminars, and the International Forum.
Diffusing and educating programs
  • Preferentially developed program and research progress will be posted on a newly constructed website.
  • The program will be provided to target beneficiaries through both short-term and long-term workshops.
Expansion of faculty exchange program and research support
  • This project will serve as a vehicle for short-term, mid-term, or long-term exchange among foreign research institutions, organizations, and sport/youth researchers by expanding existing international exchange.

Short-term objective

Collecting materials and evidence of value of sport in youth development
  • This project will serve as a vehicle for short-term, mid-term, or long-term exchange among foreign research institutions, organizations, and sport/youth researchers by expanding existing international exchange.
Launching a new research initiative
  • In spite of the known value of sport in youth development, this field has not received much attention in sport policy and sport science.
  • Through our new initiative in sport policy and sport science, KISS attempts to develop a more robust research field that investigates the value and role of sports in youth development.
Hosting regular seminars
  • Research team seminars will discuss the direction, content, and methods of research; the team seminar will serve as the basic unit prior to the workshops, East Asian seminars, and the international forum.
  • The provisional UNESCO chair program TF is the basic participatory unit of this seminar, which will be attended by experts within and outside KISS according to the theme of the relevant seminar.
Creating a website
  • Website construction will allow the content and results of research to be posted, and the website will serve as the place of communication among researchers.
  • The website will be used as a method for communicating with partner institutions and providing feedback.
  • It will provide a place for providing information to policy managers and domestic/foreign leading institutions.
  • Students and instructors in schools can access such information through partner institutions.
